Bactrim is most often used to treat bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and giardiasis, as well as certain sexually transmitted infections (eg, chlamydia). It is also used to treat fevers and to prevent the infection from recurring.
Dosage:The usual dosage of Bactrim is two 800mg tablets of sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim twice daily, followed by a meal. The tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be split, crushed, or chewed. If a meal is missed, take the next dose at the expected time.
